Halloween Countdown April 1, 2011, 3:32:46 pm
So today Jordan started his Halloween Countdown. I thought it might be a little early but he was very excited. He seemed a lot less excited when I told him it was over 200 days away. But this fact did not stop him from drawing squares and numbering them to 200 and from asking how many Halloween books I am going to make. I was proud of him for sticking with it but I still think a countdown is a bit too early.

Cleaning Miracle January 15, 2011, 8:26:39 am
I have a new goal this year, try to keep the house a lot less chaotic. I decided if I was going to make this goal happen, I needed my boys to help out.

So I got this super great idea. I drew a picture a boy with two detachable arms. Each morning my boys do a chore and put on an arm. Then at night they clean up their toys and they get their other arm. If both their arms are on, they get two dimes.

It worked!! They are so excited to clean and ask for more jobs. I even got them to clean their own bathroom and scrub the toilet. Wow, it is a miracle!

So I put the worksheet up for everyone to try, Helping Hands Helpers (find it in the math worksheets). I hope it works as well for you.

Riley's Preschool Ordeal October 23, 2010, 1:29:21 pm
I started up a neighborhood preschool group for Riley. I thought he would be beyond excited to have friends over and doing preschool and he would learn so much. Unfortunately, that is not how it worked out.

His friends would come over and he spend the whole time pouting, screaming and being a complete stinker. I kept the group going because it was what he needed to adjust to his brother going to school, right?

Then it hit me, this group is not what Riley is wanting, so what then is Riley wanting? I had a brilliant idea, why not ask him. Crazy huh.

I asked him if he just wanted to do preschool with just me and him and something wonderful happened, his little face light up, he got so excited and he said, yeah. We then talked about all the things he wanted to do with just me and him. Now preschool is a wonderful time for Riley and I to talk, learn and enjoy each other. That is what preschool is all about : )

Jordan Made it to Kindergarten! September 23, 2010, 8:29:54 am
I was pretty proud of myself, I had only one complete breakdown. It was two nights before Jordan started school and it just hit me that my baby was taking a big step into the big world and I had so many more things I wanted to do with him before he grew up. Luckily, the next day I was able to hold to together and hold his hand as I took him to his assessment with his teacher. I was so proud of my little man as he sat and answered her questions. He has grow up so much!

Now it has been a month of Kindergarten and Jordan loves it! It is very rewarding to see all he is learning and to have him looking forward to going to school each day. Best part: I now have three hours of uninterrupted Me-Time. Ahh, how refreshing.

My Preschool Book July 7, 2010, 7:53:16 am
It's SUMMERTIME!!! 100 degrees, it's officially here! Even though school is out, lots of fun things are happening over here. As of now, the big project is my preschool worksheet book, which is all consuming at this point. When my boys saw what I was working on, they immediately said they wanted a BIG preschool book. so everyday they ask if their book is done yet. So with my little slave drivers pushing me on, I hope to have it done by the end of July.

Jordan's First Look at Kindergarten May 18, 2010, 2:42:09 pm
Today was a momentous day, I took Jordan to be registered for kindergarten. The day started out rough when Riley had Jordan's Lincoln Log lid and Jordan started screaming because he wanted it. Anyway, it turned into a huge battle and I ended up dragging a very unhappy Jordan to the car.

Once we got to the school, the paperwork was more than I expected, which Jordan informed me, "This isn't quick, you said it would be quick." But once I was done and we walked around the school, I saw his little eyes light up and get so excited. He was looking in the classrooms and pointing out the pictures on the walls. Then I had a mommy moment when I realized my little guy is growing up and starting a new phase of his life. I'm so excited for my mini man, well and pretty nervous but that's just part of being a mom.

Jordan's First Written Word: Cat Poo May 17, 2010, 8:25:26 am
Jordan wrote his first word today. They had been watching the Leap Frog movie, awesome movie by the way, and decided to try his had at writing words. He wrote cat, then asked me what the other word he wrote was. It was poo. So his first word he wrote was cat poo. I’m pretty proud of the little guy.

Major Mess!! May 17, 2010, 7:13:28 am
This morning I was trying to get ready for preschool, so I was cleaning like a mad woman. Then I hear a crash and boys crying. I go into the kitchen to find our table leg had fallen over, spilling two full cups of berry smoothie all over the wall, floor, and carpet. Just as I wanted to scream, then Michael Buble's song "That's Life" started up in the background. Perfect timing. After that, things ran smoothly.

A Little About Myself May 15, 2010, 8:24:11 pm
My little man Jordan is five and will start kindergarten this year. Wow, time goes fast. He is a smart kid and I think he's ready to take the big step.

Then there's my wild man Riley, who absolutely loves to be crazy. He won't start school until next year, but he still loves to learn with the big kids.

Our preschool is a fun group of neighborhood kids, that meet twice a week. It's great fun and my boys love it. The best part is, they really are learning!! It's always satisfying when you ask them to tell you what letter or number it is and they know. Sometimes I'm shocked because I didn't think they were listening, but oh, they are always listening.

I'm so glad I found your website! I'm doing "home-preschooling" with my children and it's encouraging to see a nice site like yours dedicated specifically to helping moms and caretakers like me! Thanks and God bless you!
